About the Company

PGMC has been operating for only six (6) years at Brgy. Cagdianao, Claver, Surigao del Norte but it has already achieved results beyond expectations. PGMC posted tenfold increase in nickel ore export in just a period of five (5) years. From a volume of less than 500,000 metric tons in 2007 it has grown to 5.9 million metric tons in 2012. The national and local taxes paid by PGMC to the government for CY 2012 is estimated to be Php 688M.

While making a mark in the industry, PGMC has built a name that doesn’t just aim to profit but to build a balanced, strong partnership with stakeholders, government and the community. Its main thrust that empowers business in serving humanity, the country and the community are people, growth, mining and compliance.
PGMC value the existence of its people within and outside the company. PGMC has implemented well its Social Development Management Program (SDMP) with a 2012 budget of P27M.
It was directed towards People empowerment through Livelihood/skills Program (Backhoe Operation, Dump Truck Driving, Light & Heavy Equipment Servicing and Pipefitter Training), Health & Education Support Program (Feeding Program, provision of barangay doctor, nurses and medicines, maintenance of ambulance unit, support to Alternative Learning System Program/ALSP, school fees and supplies assistance for barangay school children, Brigada Eskwela Program for Claver Municipality, etc.), Infrastructure/Public Utilities (Electrification Program, Water System, Improvement of Roman Catholic & Pentecostal Churches, construction of 52 units of household sanitary toilets), ICE/Information Communication Education (School to School ICE Campaign, mine site tour for students of Claver, hosted stakeholders’ annual gathering), Pilot Project on Vegetable Farming with Samahang Magsasakang Cagdianao, Baragay Sports Program for host communities, community clean up, monthly rice subsidy for senior citizens, PWD and tanods.
On top of the SDMP, PGMC implements CSR Program such as regular Medical/Surgical Mission (with 1,113 beneficiaries for 2012), calamity assistance, daily transportation for students, scholarship grants for college students, P2.9 M as financial assistance for the relocation of illegal settlers of Kinalablaban, Cagdianao, Claver SDN, P1M as financial assistance to Sitio Sabang, Claver, SDN for the construction of breakwater, and support for various provincial and municipal programs.
PGMC goes beyond what is asked to show its commitment for caring the environment. It has implemented well its Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program (EPEP). It has spent Php223.5M for its 2012 EPEP alone which is above the approved budget or Php308M over six (6) years since 2007.
This covers the mitigating measures to address impacts of mining operations on land, air and water, waste management, environmental monitoring, greening program, adopt-a-river program, research and training and IEC campaign. It has also started its progressive rehabilitation program on mined-out declared area.
